Empowerment Through Education Program

Sponsored By:

NCBI and community partners offer high school students the opportunity to engage in a unique experiential learning opportunity empowering them with the knowledge to bring an informed voice to their future roles in the community and beyond.

Over the course of 5 full days spread over the school year, students engage with and learn from various community partners/experts.

Each day covers a different theme:

  • Day 1: Cultural Understanding (NCBI Workshop)- To build bridges of understanding across differences

  • Day 2: Social/Emotional Wellbeing- To support the capacity to increase self-insight as well as build and maintain supportive relationships

  • Day 3: Arts and Culture- To boost critical thinking, understand the importance of art in local and world cultures, and art as an economic engine

  • Day 4: Local/Regional History- To build knowledge and understanding of local historical events and trends, as well as a greater appreciation for current events

  • Day 5: Civic Responsibility- To promote collaboration across different perspectives and greater sense of self-efficacy to positively impact individuals, organizations, and communities
